Capstone Project: Alberta Vegans
See the live site!Finish With Style
My capstone project at NAIT was a large website for the Edmonton based non-profit Vegans and Vegetarians of Alberta. This website was built by a team of 7 students: 3 web, 3 visual communications, and one business analyst. We made the site with WordPress CMS and it required all of the knowledge and skills I'd developed during my time at NAIT. The purpose of the site was to allow users to learn about the organization, see the upcoming events, view sponsors and sign up to become sponsors, and to promote their upcoming festival: VegFest.
User Friendly
We knew from the start that VVoA would need to be able to change and add a ton of content, especially on the VegFest pages. So making the site easy to edit by the client was essential. This also meant we needed robust safety measures in place to prevent anything from breaking when changes were made.
Hard Work and Versatility
My primary duties on this site included lo-fi wireframing and UI/UX mapping with a teammate, and writing text content for the pages. I then created the WordPress custom post types, custom fields, php pages, and coded the functionality of most pages. I also wrote a 40 page walkthrough document for the client, detailing everything they need to know to update their website.
