Recipe Revolution Landing Page
And now for Something Completely Different
This was the final project in Web Design & Usability II. I was tasked with creating a landing page for a food blogger whose readers would submit recipes then he'd publish the ones he liked best. My original designs for this assignment were a lot more...safe than the final product, but I wanted mine to be something compeltely unexpected that would stick in peoples heads.
OUR Recipes
The end result of this desire to be different was Recipe Revolution. Inspired by the propaganda of the Russian Revolution, this site took my instructor by surprise and stood out from the rest due to how completely ridiculous it is. This project helped cement skills in Adobe XD, Photoshop, writing, and design principals. Each section was designed to be engaging for the user, with thematic twists on common features such as the Weekly Manifesto being the sites newsletter.
Layers of the World, Unite!
I created a mock-up of the page for mobile, tablet and desktop sizes and focused on creating reusable components in Adobe XD for an easier workflow. I used layering and grouping techniques learned in prevoius classes to keep the layers panel clean, understandable, and well labeled for me to work with and my instructor to review.
Soviet Style
A style guide had to be created for this project as well, and while there are things about it I would certainly improve given more time, it was good practice. Some parts of the web page were easy to get across: this is bold and loud, there isn't much subtlety to the color scheme, fonts, or images chosen.
